Wrapping up summer

I didn't take pics of the veggie garden b/c it is weedy and full blown, rank, and otherwise in great need of re-vamping. Waiting on cooler weather and the rain spell to pass...thats my excuse anyway!!!  :)

The end of the summer blooms...so we learned that the soil is not very fertile here due to the low performance of the quail grass.

Red Jacob Kline Monarda up next to burgandy foliage of the quail grass, unintended surprise!

The final flush of the Gomphrena

Yucca blooming!

Pickles!!! What a lovely job Chris did of putting up the cukes...thanks Chris!

Sunflowers out the window where I sit and watch 3 pairs of goldfinches dine!

On the walk to school each morning we pass by this "neglected" yard, and we are breathless...

See the Buckeye butterfly we caught sunning in the grass...

Chris picked a Tulsi bouquet...I've decided Basil would make the best bridal bouquets!

The Mulleins which are slowly dying one by one...too much water? hmmm....

The ditch weeds on our street...ahhhh...

And this is what the power company did to the Silver Maples in our front yard...they do this every 4/5 years so these trees were mostly rotted and hollow and needed to be cut down, but still. This just looks like the Memphis Maple Chainsaw Massacre!

Stay tuned for Maple Massacre follow up!..........
